ENGLISH HORSES WINNING IN GERMANY. I see from "Heutschcr Sport" that the valuable Union Rcnnen 11,000 sovereigns, which was run at Hoppegarten last Sunday week, was won by one of the stock of English-bred stallion Malua. The race was for three-year-olds, and the winner, Taucher, was a good favorite. Hidden by a German jockey, named Kaspcr, he won by a head from Royal Lancer, on which the American jockey Archibald rode a fine finish. The honors of the race thus went to English sires, for the runner-up is by Louviers out of the English mare. R. F. A., by Carbine. R. F. A. was sent to Germany in 1912, in foal to Louviers. bought for Freiherr S. A. von Oppenheim for ."00 guineas. Other English stallions credited with a winner apiece, in addition to Malua, were Marta Santa, St. Maclou and Polymelus. There was plenty of racing in Germany that, afternoon, the meeting at Hoppegarten lieing reinforced by gatherings at Frankfort-on-the-Main, Magdeburg and Crefeld. At Vienna, too, they have had racing as usual, and on Sunday week the Stutcn Preis Austrian Oaks was won by Slieve Gallions daughter. Nur Du, which defeated a half dozen others.
