BURGOMASTER YEARLING BRINGS 55,100. New York, July 10. An even dozen thoroughbred yearlings sold at auction by the Powers-Hunter Company at Durlauds Monday night brought a total of 1,005. These yearlings were consigned by John II. Morris from his Bosque Bonita Stock Farm at Versailles, Ky., and most of them were by the Hamburg stallion Burgomaster and from mares of known quality. The prizj of the lot was obtained by Congressman George W. Lofl, when Max Hirsch. bidding for him, paid ,100 for a magnificent brown son of Burgomaster and Antipathy. This one was knocked down only after a spirited contest in which A. .1. Joyner, representing M. L. Schwartz, and Lawrence Carey, bidding for Frank Nolan of the Beverwyck Stable, had tried to buy him. The second best price was paid by Joyner when he bought a chestnut half-sister to Blue Thistle, a daughter of Burgomaster and Wild Thistle, for 82.001. Mr. Joyner was bidding for M. L. Schwartz.
