Won driving; second and third the same. XEItRASKA followed the leader closely from the start and. responding gamely to urging, got up to win in the closing strides. VIVID, away in his stride, set a fast pace and finished gamely, but , could not withstand the winners challenge. METEORITE raced on the extreme outside of the leaders from the start and ran a game race. HEMLOCK was pocketed and finished resolutely when clear. Won easily; second and third driving. KNIGHT OF MERCI fenced faultlessly and, holding his opponents safe for the entire way, won under restraint. EARLY LIGHT made several poor landing, but finished gamely when called on for a final effort. OLLIE BYRNE showed excellent speed and fenced cleanly in the early running, but tired and was used up. GAIXER raced into the lead on the backstretch and, keeping it, was never menaced afterwards. GRUMPY set the pace and was hard ridden in the early running, then was taken back on the far turn and, coming again under punishment, outstayed TRIAL BY JURY. The latter was under pressure throughout and tired badly in the final eighth. WATER WITCH finished with a belated rush. HALF ROCK ran a fairly good race. DEER TRAP raced in closest pursuit throughout and outstayed TOM McTAGGART in the final drive. TOM McTAGGART was away slowly and closed a big gap early, but tired in the stretch drive. SUNFLASH was in close quarters on the far turn and finished fast. MIDA ran well, but tired badly in the closing strides. SUNBONNET ran a better race than the chart shows.
