SEAGRAMS GOOD FORTUNE CONTINUES. His Colt Gala Water an Easy Victor in the Valuable Stanley Produce Stakes, Toronto, Out., September 27. The Joseph E. Seagram stable scored another victory at Woodbine Iark this afternoon when the three-year-old Galatino colt. Gala "Water, won the Stanley Produce -Stakes, a dash of one mile and a quarter. The Ontario Jockey Club added ,500 and the entrance and starting fees brought the winners portion of the stake up to 1,700. There were four starters and iala "Water won in a canter by many lengths. There were only three starters in the Coventry Steeplechase and Hearts of Oak proved an easy winner, lie was the only one of the three start- ers to finish the course without mishap. Indian Arrow quit, after taking the tenth jump, but his rider finally got him going again and earned second money. After taking the seventeenth jump. Garter broke down and Williams took him around the wings in going to the eighteenth fence and dismounted. J. lT. Strode has forwarded to the postal authorities at Washington a vile letter, which came through the mails addressed to him. The letter, which was mailed from Newark, N. J., attacks Strode on account of the running of the horse Billie Baker. Jockey Mountain is back with the James Arthur stahle. The lad was evidently much improved by his vacation, for he rode Progressive well when he got. up and beat Jabot by a head in the closing race yesterday. Mountain will accompany the Arthur stable from here to Laurel. W. O. Northey. secretary of the Montreal Jockey Club, was a visitor at Woodbine this afternoon. He will remain over for a couple of days. The stables of J. Lumsden and G. E. Chancellor will leave for Laurel Saturday morning. Ral Parr is endeavoring to secure the services of jockey F. Robinson to ride Crimper in the stakes to be run at Laurel. The jumpers Garter. Chester Krum, Morpeth and Battery have gone amiss. Harvey Boyle will leave for England at the conclusion of the Iimiico meeting to secure some promising material for steeplechases. He will lie accompanied by Clilf Hamuiou, trainer for 10. 11. Bradley. Harvey Sproule, secretary of the Canadian branch of the Thoroughbred Horse Association, today wired S. N. 1 1 I m :i n at Kemptoii Park, Montreal. Jue., as follows: "Kindly advise horsemen racing at your track not to ship to Devonshire Park.
