DOING WELL AT DEVONSHIRE PARK. Foxy Griff Defeats Miss Krutor Gentlewomans : Victory Proves Popular Attendance Increasing. Windsor, Out.. October 4. Fine racing weather - attracted a capital midweek crowd to Devonshire Park today. The public, however, fared poorly until the running of the fourth race, when G. E. Phillips Foxy Griff, running back to his previous race, won after a hard drive through the stretch. . Miss Kruter, the .supposedly good tiling, ran second, and might have won in a few more strides. Gad Bryan and J. W. OHura arrived at the course today and expressed satisfaction with the plant. They will leave at once for Bowie, where the meeting opens on November 14. They stated 1 that extensive improvements were being made at t the Bowie plant and they felt assurd that the - course would present a good appearance when I opened. The Bowie meeting will bring racing to a close in Maryland for the year. Jockey Guy Burns was a visitor at the course b today. Kedland was claimed out of the fourth race by i- R. L. Frazier for ,850. , , The plater Wild Horse burst a blood vessel during - the running of the seventh race and had to 0 be destroyed. The victory of Gentlewoman in the second race e was a popular one. The filly is owned by Capt. W. J. Press, one of Ottawas most prominent t owners. She had recently been turned over to 0 George B. Cochran to train and it was her first start under his care. The attendance has increased daily and the success - of the venture is assured. , ... Foxy Griff was claimed by J. J. Coulter for r ,450 after winning the fourth race.
