KENILWORTH STARTS OFF BRISKLY. Detroit, Mich., October 14. Under perfect weather. conditions the fall meeting of the Kenilworth Itacing Association was ushered in today, witli a crowd estimated at ten thousand or more in attendance. Track conditions were not all that could be asked, as the heavy rain of Friday left the track heavy. Jockey A. Claver, who camo from Kentucky, signalized his arrival by piloting Hampton Dame to victory in the opening race and followed up that success by riding the winner of the feature event, a handicap at one mile and seventy yards. F. Musante, who arrived with the stable of J. F. Sweeney, started Yorkville and Hauberk. Both raced as if the trip here had been a strain on the horses, which had only been off the cars two hours when they raced. Early Sight won the secondary feature of the card, a 00 claiming race. In this race a coup on Medford Boy failed to materialize. D. J. McDaniel, who arrived here this week to finish out the season on this circuit and who has charge of Grant Hugh Brownes string, had the good fortune to saddle the first winner of the meeting. II. Fink was an arrival from Kentucky. Trainer F. Musante was called before the stewards concerning Yorkvilles running and he stated that the horse does not run well in heavy or sticky going. D. A. Ewart claimed Yorkville from J. W. Bean for ,300.
