SOMETHING OF THE LATE J. K. STRINGFIELD. John K. Stringfield. press agent for the Louisville, Latonia and Juarez race tracks, died suddenly of heart disease at Cincinnati, O., Sunday night. He had been a familiar figure on the Kentucky courses for more than a quarter of a century. His knowledge of thoroughbreds and their breeding was excelled by few followers of the turf in America. He left a widow and one child. Alphia Ray String-field, about three years old. Mr. Stringfield was born near Lexington about 57 years ago. His father was a successful breeder and racer of horses. Stringfields first connection with the turf was as a Jockey for his father. He possessed a remarkable memory and impressions gained of the great racers i of his early days were retained by him and employed in his descriptions of their progeny, the . racers of the present. Practicallv all of his life was spent around the r race tracks. For many years he wrote turf gossip i for the Louisville-Courier-Journal. He excelled in i recalling the great races of other years and in t tracing the Derby and stake winners of recent :. years through their illustrious families. His father was also n jockey in his youth and I rode the famous Bonnie Scotland horse, Frogtown, , in some of his victories.
