GOOD DEVONSHIRE RACING FINE WEATHER, A FAST TRACK AND CLOSE FINISHES MARK THE SECOND DAY. Raoul Wins tho Feature Race for His New Owner Jockey Claver to Ride for Grant H. Browne Next Year Track Gossip. Windsor, Ont., October 30. Favored with fair weather for the second day of the final meeting at Devonshire Park, the offering of the Western Racing Association was productive of excellent racing, marked in the majority of instances by close finishes, while prices were again liberal. The track continued fast. The feature of the card was an All-Aged Handicap at three-quarters, in which Raoul carried tlie colors of J. C. Ferris to victory. Grant Hugh Browne announced tills morning that lie has secured a contract on jockey A. Claver. The contract went into effect this afternoon and will be in force until January 1, 1918. The lad is to get a salary of 1916.sh,000 and the usual fees, with the privilege of accepting outside mounts when his employer is not represented in a race. The boy rode to victory his first mount for his new employer when Crepuscule graduated from the maiden class by winning tlie second race of the day. Word was received this morning from Cincinnati that II. D. Rrown would arrive in Windsor tomorrow morning. He comes here to explain his plans for the Oriental Park meeting to the owners now racing here. Paymaster was excused from the fifth race by order of the stewards. Jockey Burns was an arrival at the track this morning. He probably will not ride at this meeting because of increasing weight. I. Knebelkamp was an arrival from Latonia this morning with his string of horses. W. II. Fizer lias also arrived with a useful string to race out tlie meeting here. He will probably ship his stable to Rowie after this meeting. These horses will add quality to those already racing at the course and will help to fill the handicaps. E. T. Colton was nn arrival this morning with the handicap mare, Hanovia. Arch Plotter is also in tlie Colton stable. These horses will also be shipped to Rowie next week. The stewards warned the riders this morning that any attempt at rough riding would mean suspension. A. T. Dobson, one of the stewards at Oriental Park, Havana, was a visitor in tho stewards stand this afternoon. He was here in the interests of the Havana meeting and to consult with steward Martin Nathanson.
