GREAT ARRAI OF ENTRIES NOMIIJATIONS FOR BIG BELMONT PARK EVENTS OF 1917 MADE PUBLIC. Suburban, Metropolitan and Toboggan Handicaps Attract Stars of American Turf, Besides Notable Importations from Across the Atlantic. New York, November 19. It is evident that the patrons of racing on the metropolitan courses hereabouts are in for some high-class sport in 1917. Secretary A. MeL. Earlockcr has just made public the entries received for the Metropolitan, Suburban :iml Toboggan Handicaps, recently closed by the AVestchester Racing Association. It is a fine array that these entries make, the list embracing prac- tically all of the stars of this years racing, together with many distinguished importations from abroad, including some that have not yet arrived in this country. The most notable of this latter class is North Star, accounted nearly the best two-year-old : shown on the English turf this year, which A. K. Macomber recently purchased from J. It. Joel. As previously announced, Mr. Macomber leads all others in respect to the number of nominations made, with Harry Payne- Whitney his nearest competitor. For the Metropolitan Mr. Macomber has entered seventeen of his best horses. For the Suburban he has named fifteen, and for the Toboggan he has named eighteen from his extensive string. Itesides Messrs Macomber and Whitney, other liberal nominators are August Belmont, J. E. Widener, James Butler, John Sanford, the WicklifTe Stable and Hal Parr.
