CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey Ball is accused of having tossed away the race with Refugee in the fourth race at Havana Sunday by trying to draw the finish fine. A. J. Riley and L. Kohn, Chicago bookmakers, will leave this week for New Orleans, to be on hand for the opening of the meeting there on New Years Day. At the conclusion of the racing at Windsor last fall, G. Alexandra offered three horses for sale for 00. Among them was Last Spark, but there were no buyers. After Last Spark won the fourth race of his career at Tijuana last week, it is not surprising that Alexandra dropped him when a "halter man" said 00. That was certainly a hard-luck story which D. Howell, the owner of Mike, had to relate after the first race Thursday at Tijuana. Mike was left at the post, but passed all during the running to finish first in a hard drive of three. He bore over on the other two in the stretch, and the purse was taken away from him, and ho was placed last. Signorette won the race.
