j FAVORITES FAIL AT ORIENTAL PARK. King Tuscan Only Choice to Scoro Mad Tour Runs a Sensational Race. J Havana, Cuba, December 29. Favorites did not I perform any too well for the speculators at Oriental ; .Park this afternoon. King Tuscan, however, enabled many of them to square accounts on the day, by winning the last ; race, in which he beat Sevillian and some other good ones. King Box was an odds-on choice for the one mile and fifty yards race, fourth on the card, but apparently ! wore himself out chasing Freda Johnson jmd had nothing left to resist the closing challenge i of Maxcntius, which won going away. In the race for two-year-olds, first on the card. 5t was only poor luck at the start that prevented B. Stansburys Madtour from winning at long odds. He was away absolutely last in a ten horse field aind then was beaten only a nose and a head by IBrobeck and Sister Riley. Jerry had little difficulty in winning his first out nt the meeting when he beat the baud opposed -to him in the third race at five and one half .furlongs. Among the visitors was E. R. Thomas, owner of the famous Hermis and other good horses, and who 1 3ms been living in Franco and England for several ! years. Mr. Thomas is here for a month and is living on board his yacht, which Is, anchored in the I linrlwr. He is accompanied by his wife and ehild Eitnd Dr. Howe, a well-known English physician. 1
