CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Jockey W. A. Carroll, who left Tijuana to join his contract employer P. M. Civil] at New Orleans, made an auspicious start at the Fair Grounds Fri- la. riding two winners and one third out of four mounts. Chalmers, the crack Kentucky sprinter, got his first brush through the stretch Weifnesday morning at the Fair Grounds. The good horse is coming around splendidly and will be hard to beat when he is ready. Re|M.rts from the east say that C. K. Q. Millings has offered to sill Curls Neck Farm, his ."..MNI-acre stork farm on the James river, mar Richmond. Va.. which he bought four years ago for Sl.OOil.MM. It is intimated that Mr. Killings plans to make his permanent iiouie in California.
