CLOSE FINISH IN HAVANA FEATURE. Less than Length Separate First from Last Horse in Race Won by Quin. Havana. Cuba. January 17. — The feature race. the fifth on the program, at Oriental Park this afternoon, furnished a stirring contest in which h ss thaa a length separated the first from the last of the fie starters as they passed the finishing mark. The winner turned up in Quin, which got up in the last few strides to beat Owana by a short head. Inn Kay was a neck away and a half length in front of Al Pierce. The track was fast, but a strong wind that blew tp the stretch was responsible for the time being slower thin on previous days. An accident occurred in the running of the first r..ce in which three horses fell. Jockey Sobel. who had the mount on Dora Collins, came out of the mixup with a badly sprained ankle. The accident was canned by Dora Collins, which swerved when Sobel drew his whip, crossed her legs and fell, and Sister Bil-y and Brown Baby tumbled over her. Jockey Knight, who had the mount on Sister Biley. rode Silver Bill in the succeeding race. A. Lezama. the Cuban owner, had the pleasure of seeing his colors carried to victory in the first race.
