BIG ENTRY LIST FOR FUTURITY OF 1919. Nominations Made for Produce of 942 Mares — John E. Madden Names 191. New York. January 23.— The Futurity of 1919 closed with 942 nominations, which will make the greatest of two-year-old races worth at least S3o. MsX John K. Madden, master of Hamburg Place, was one of the most liberal of the nominators, naming 191 mares. His stallion, Ogdcn. winner of the Futurity himself, has the best representation, with forty; Star Shoot is second, with thirty-nine, and it is an imported stallion that is third. when Thomas Fortune Ryans Sea King is credited with thirty -four. Pataud has seventeen and Hessian has an even dozen of his named. Of the others. Ormondale. also a Futurity winner, is represented by twenty-nine; Ballot, which raced so well for the late James It. Keene. has two; Pen Trovato, three; Dade, one; Theo. Cook. one. and Transvaal, one. while there are two by the F.nglish lior-e Wrack, which was imported to this country by A. K. Hancock. In the A. P. Hancock entry of fifty-one. ten are by Wrack, while other English stallions that are represented are Corcyra, Junior. Llangibby. Black Jester. Thrush. Fairy King and Zriu. Celt, the stallion that has made good so adequately for Mr. Hancock naturally has the largest number named, and thirty-one of the fifty-one bear his name as sire. Other American sires represented are Fair Pkty with one and Sweep, another Futurity winner, with the ether. Hal Price Ileadley has named eighteen and of the list sixteen will be by Incle, with Cock o th Walk named for one and Ivan the Terrible as the other. T. C. McDowell has named two by The Manager and one by Fair llay. There are several other horsemen and breeders represented ami F. D. Knight, tin- breeib-r of Basse, has named four by Carle and one by Cock a th Walk. Reflecting the gradual but certain return of racing to popularity and affluence, the nominations to the Futurity for 1919 are encouraging Indeed. The following table show the number of nominations and gross value of the Futurity since its inaugural running in UBS, when it was won by-Proctor Knott. Cp to 1910 there was 0, MX added to the race.
