HEAVY TRACK RACING AT HAVANA. Shooting Star Takes His Third Consecutive Race in a Canter — Gossip of the Course. Havana. Cuba, February 13. — The races at Oriental Park this afternoon were run over a deep and heavy track, and despite this, interesting contests were in order. The majority of the races furnished close finishes. The Hedrick stable won the feature race, a dash of a mile and fifty yards with Shooting Star, which beat his opponents cantering after making all tie- pace. This marked his third straight victory and seventh winning race at the present meeting. James Milton acted as one of the stewards this afternoon. His place in the starters stand was filled by his capable assistant, Frank McOinty. Price McKinney, with a party of his friends, occupied a liox in the grandstand. He arrived in Havana aboard his yacht this morning and will remain for several days. Jockey Corey was taken ill this morning and was forced to cancel his engagements this afternoon. Claims were put in for Shooting Star after he won by B. Mock. A. Leaama and N. L. BaelnoB and, in the drawing, the latter secured him. Shooting Star ost his new owner ,200. I. S. Wiabard claimed Flecha Negra from the third race for 2." . A new claiming rule went into effect today ami all selling races for the remainder of the meeting are claiming races.
