February 17. — An e-ffort has beea made to secare leases on several race tracks in California. It is taken to men that perhaps there is a movement on foot to promote- racing here- this slimmer, despite the fact that the rariag eeaualsaiea and pari-matari bill will not be introduecel. James W. Ooffroth. when he- was in s.m Francisco last, declared that he may int-Test himself in promoting limited meetings in Lea Angeles and San Francisco after the close at Tijuana. Nothing further along these lines has beea reported.
