LADIES DAY AT HAVANA. Brings Out Large Gathering to Oriental Park — First Time Starters Are Successful. Havana. I uba. February 20. Sandhill, a first time starter at the meeting, won todays feature at Oriental Park when he beat a band of good platers in the sixth race, a dash at a mile and tin -nly yards. Sandhill, ridden by the skillful apprentice Rowan, made all his own pace and beat Alhena a head in a driving finish. Several claims were lodged after tie- sixth race. R. M. Small claimed Sandhill for .201. Two claims were made for Alhena. one by II. G. Red-well and the other by C. R. P.r.v-ioti. Bcdwell secured the horse in the drawing for ,400. Oakwood Boy, another first time starter at the meeting, made a runaway affair of the fourth race. "Ladies Day" brought out a large gathering. Speculation was lively and large fields went to the ost. In the majority of the races, the finishes wen- keenly contested. The racing conditions could not have been improved uiKin, the track being fast and tiie weatiier perfect.
