A. L. ASTES STRING OF YOUNG HORSES. Look Promising to Trainer Frank Bray — Will Not Be Ready Before Jamaica Meeting. Py Ed Date. New York. April 2. — A. L. Aste, who once owned Nasturtium and sold him to the late William C. Whitney for the reported sum of 0,000. has been a racing enthusiast for some years and is better known in later days as the owner of Jack Point and Ten Point, both rare good horses. For four y.-ars he has turned considerable attention to Breeding thoroughbreds and possesses for the coming season a string of ten youngsters, the majority of which be bred himself at the I.arbee Farm. Kentucky. All his hordes in training are in charge of Frank Pray, and from what they have shown and their conformation are quite up to the average. The two Hapsburgs. a colt and filly. Mr. Aste bought from Hagh MeCarren. Sun Kiss is a sister to Ed Crump, which is reputation sufficient. This handsome Peep oDay filly was bred by .1. S. Barbae and sold to Mr. Aste. The remainder were bred by Mr. Aste. who has fourteen mares in Lexington and two stallions. Ten Point and Eyebrow. The latter is a sou of Star Shoot Eyelet, the latter being the dam of .lacquelina. .lacklet and others. Eyebrow broke down early in his racing career after having shown to be a good horse. Ten Point as a Sire. The get of Ten Point and Eyebrow are showing well this year, there being six foals already, five colts ami „i„. filly, all of which Mr. Barbie reports of exceeding promise. The first of the Ten loint gel is a colt fi i Helen Miller, the dam of Stalwart Helen. Ten Point served but five marcs last year and four this year. Mr. Aste says he has given him a rather hard task to make a reput.it ion with such a limited number of mares, but he is confident of his ■access. Not since Ten Points retirement have the Aste colors been prominent on the race coarsen, but with his tea two-year-olds at hand he is confident they will more than pay their expenses. While the string is in excellent condition as regards health, trainer Frank Pray is not anxious to rush tliem. and it is doubtful if any of them will be seen In fure the opening of the Jamaica track. Following is the list: Audrey, ch. f. by Eyebrow Edith Inez. Dick Miller, ch. c. by Duval -Helen Miller. Eye Class, eh. c. by Star Siio.it Eyelet. » Eyelid, ch. f. by Eyebrow- Kaiment. He will ride the best material obtainable, but if his youngslers show stake form he will endeavor to pro cure a contract for the services of a good rider.
