BELMONT STEEPLECHASE ENTRIES CLOSING. With the announcement of the dosing of entries for the Pal Btd States Double Event Steeplechase, the first section of which is to lie run at Belmont Park Terminal May 12, listed for a week from next Monday, it became noticeable from a glance at the hook of stake conditions, which is just off the press, that the event promises to be the most valuable of any in the Inited States for a between the flags race. The subscription is ,000, which will enable subscribers to have a starter in each section. One-half of the subscription money is to be awarded the nominator of the winner of each race. As the name implies, the race will be a two-time affair — one in the spring and the other at the autumn series. The first will be at two miles and the second over the three miles course. For four-year-olds anil over, the conditions give each subscriber the privilege of naming two horses which may be owned or leased for each subscription of 0t—oiie to start— with the whole of the sweepstakes and a piece of plate valued at 8500 to go to the respective winners.
