EXPECT SMART TRIALS THIS WEEK. Kings Plate Candidates Have Had Little Chance to Show Much at Wooabine. Toronto. Out.. May 2.— The rack conditions at the Woodbine course last week were of such a nature that any fast work-outs of the Kings Plate candidates were prevented. The Beardmore and Thorm liffc Stables platers have been given some useful work, bill mostly l,,;iK, slow gallops. Willi the arrival of the Seagram. Hcndrie and Brookdale stables this week and some more favorable weather and a better track, the railbirds should be rewarded vvith some smart trials. At present tar files are as much at sea as to the outcome of the race for the Bahama as tl.ey were last fall. The Seagram stable representatives havo first call on the last years form, but some lips are in circulation that th- winner is likely lo rasas from other aaarters. There is absolutely as sound foundation for such tips and there cannot be until the candidates are asked to step along. Captain 1.. will carry the colors of Major M. Ross C.ood.-rham in the King-; Plate, but he will be fitted by Harry .hidings, Jr., who has mci with i.iuch success as a trainer in recent years. Captain B. has not grown a great deal since last year, but is a well-made colt and is known to ixissess a fine turn of speed. He worked a half on Saturday handily in .".2.-,.. Bavardc, the Oiddings plater, although she has devob pod greatly since last year. will have to display decided improvement to |„. a factor in the race. The Crew candidate Orlana worked three -quarters on Saturday in 1:21 l... with Pepper Sauce, the Kings Water, leading all the way. The Nixon three -Twin Stream. McCorbiirn and Illuminate were only asked to go-a half mile, the tenser pair going the distance in M%, :.nd Illuminate in 62%. Britannia and Impress, working together, wear a half in bB%. Impress appears to be improving with each work, and may be the best of the Thonieliflo entry by race day. Other work-outs were: Akeldama. three-eighths in 39: Corn Broom and Old Pop, five-eighths in 1:07-.-.: Fair Montague, half safle in BS%; Fountain Fay. half mile in 53.-,; Iron Cross and Bachelors Bliss, three -quarters in 1:25; Amphioii. three eighths in 37-.-.: Mausolus, half mile in 5.".--.; Opera Class and Armine. half mile in 54 :l.-, : Mis.
