CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Henry Zeigler, xvho once owned the celebrated Hermis. was at Dotiglas Park yesterday after a months vacation at French Liek Springs. He said he would be willing to buy some horses if he could get the kind he wanted at a fair price. John E. Madden, who is best known as the largest breeder of thoroughbreds in the Halted States, and who has a fondness for the trotting horse, has turned author. He has compiled, for distribution among his friends, an interesting book, which he entitled "Maddens Stallion Record of Horses Not Well Known, Whose Pedigrees Appear in Many of Our Present Day Great Trotters." In Australia they have a great jumper in Jack Kiee. This remarkable horse is so far above all his rivals that the handieapper asks him to carry-burdens that seem almost incredible. He recently won a two-mile hurdle ra -e with 191 pounds on his back, defeating a field of fifteen crack horses and finishing with plenty to spare, although none of the others carried over 155 pounds.
