It is not an uncommon practice for trainers to coudition peculiarly tempered thoroughbreds by driving on the road to a cart or sulky. By this method they are made to forget the, to them, hateful race track and colors. Heriuis. one of the greatest of American race horses, was kept in condition through this method. The average race horse ia usually a good driving horse.
