HERALD went to the front with a rush after entering the homestretch and drew away into a long lead, but tired badly in the last eighth. AUSTRAL closed a big gap and finished with a rush. CLAIRVOYANT came wide when entering the homestretch and finished fast on the" outside; GREAT GULL and ALMA LOUISE closed gaps. STALWART JR. quit after setting tin pace to the stretch. PHIL UNGAR began slowly and was outrun for the first quarter, but moved up on the outside and tired after racing into a good lead. BBOOM CORN finished fast and close up. CORN BROOM was favored by the going and outran the others from the start, hut was tiring in the last sixteenth and had to be ridden out to outstay GARISH SUN. The latter worked his way up on the outside and finished fast. J. W. HUNLEY stumbled repeatedly on the backstretch, but rah well and finished close up. MEISSEN and BANYAN ran well to the stretch. GRUMP1 raced gamely and was easily best of the others. IRON CROSS II. ran well to the stretch and tired. GREENWOOD moved up with a rush on the Inside on the backstretch, but finally tired and quit.
