It calls for no purse less than 00 and four ,0QO s.take.s. The Maxwelton track is a, remarkably- fast course. Barney Oldfield broke two worlds records ou it during the past week. Superintendent Sappington at once tore the surface with disks and while a fine cushion has been put on it, horsemen predict that a mile in 1:40 is within the reach of any ordinary horse. One of the local newspapers asked for an expression from the sheriff and prosecutor the past week and both announced that they had no intention of interfering with the meeting. It is conceded that under the laws credit betting is legal.
