OTHELLO, away slowly, gradually improved his position and, securing a clear course in the homestretch, finished fast and outstayed BARSAC In-the closing strides. BARSAC slipped thrdugh next to the rail, but was taken extremely wide after entering the homestretch and finished gamely. TING-AUNG made a game effort in the last quarter, but tired finally. BUCK SHOT was a forward contender :ind held on well under punishment. POMP saved ground on the turns and took the lead at the eighth post, but tired in the final drive. YANKEE NOTIONS pulled up extremely lame. The winner entered for 1,000, was bid up to ,600 and bought by J. Livingston. CURRAGHALEEN, badly ridden, took the lead between calls-, but fenced poorly and tired. TORERO showed the most speed for the first turn of the field, but tired. CLOOTZ was never prominent. AZALEA raced in closest pursuit and was hard ridden and held the others safe, but could never get to the leader. DAWN STAR began slowly, hut gained steadily and made a fast finish. HOLLISTER was in close quarters next to the inner rail nearly throughout, moved up fast on the stretch turn, but was compelled to Jk pulled up sharply by CORN TASSEL swerving, or he might have been closer up. CRANK finished gamely through the last quarter and appears to be on edge. COLUMBINE ran a good race and held on gamely, in the final drive. GREEN m lS-,rml extremely wide all the way. TICKET could never get up and had no mishaps. TOM Mc-1AI,,AR1 was cut off repeatedly, could never get clear and was not persevered witliii the homestretch. Scratched 34937 Star Maid, 100. BLUE PARADISE was shullled back on the turn out of the backstretch but saved ground when entering the homestretch and outstayed TUMBLE IN .in the final drive TUMBLE IN came around the leaders on the last turn with a rush, but tired in the stretch. VIRGINIA 1LLL was a forward contender in the early running, but tired in the last eighth. GYP ran a creditable rate. STAI tWO RT, practically left, closed a big gap. MOUNTAIN ROSE II. set a fist pace to the stretch and gave way. AVIS showed unsuspected speed. BURLINGAME ran well to the stretch. ROYAL, QUEST showed ouuntu early speed.
