DECKMATE raced- in closest pursuit of the lender slipped through next to the rail in the homestretch and. taking a slight lead, outstayed NATURALIST in the final drive. NATURALIST raced on the outside of the leaders and came wide when entering the homestretch, but closed up rapidly in the last eighth and was weariiig the Ieade.r down at the finish. BASIL .set a fast pace, but endeavored to swerve out on the last turn and tired when challenged. KINGS JOKER made a game effort at the quarter post, but tired under pressure, and seemed handicapped by the going. RIAERDALE began badly and showed speed in the early running, but tired from the effort. MANISTER TOI appears on edge. The latter was saved under stout restraint for n mile and a half, then closed up steadily and was gaining fast in the closing strides. TETAN made the running, but tired badly in the last quarter. AVOODTIIRUSH gained steadily through the homestretch, but was tiring in the closing strides. PHALARIS showed speed, but tired in the last eighth. AVOOD VIOLET had no mishaps.
