PAPP IN KENTUCKY DERBY 6. W. Loff s Futurity Winner to Be Entered in Historic Race. Son of Peter Quince Wintering Well Dr. Barlow Intended for Steeplechasing. Lexington, Ky., December 11. Dr. Barlow, the three-year-old bay gelding by Toddingtou Erie Belle, is to be trained for steeplechasing. .7. S. Hawkins yesterday sold him to Matt Brady for his . employer. Captain J. E. Davis, the owner of Brooks, .winner of the Manly Memorial Steeplechase, the richest cross-country event of the year, which was decided at rimlico last month. Trainer Brady, who alio has the distinction of having twice saddled the winners of the Harbor Hill Steeplechase, thinks Dr. Barlow will be a pronounced success at. timber topping. "Hes the proper type," said he, "and theres that about him that appeals to one who is fond of the chase." Brady was accompanied to Lexington by Robert J. Waiden. Maryland breeder and turfman, who also expressed his liking for Dr. Barlow. Waldens mission, however, was to have his mare Incognito, by Disguise Homespun, shipped to his farm at. Middleburg. He bought Ineognito for ,000 at a sale here last September, she having been consigned by administrator of the estate of the late E. C. Cowdin of Mt. Kisco, N. Y. Incognito is in foal to Ballot. She is to be mated next spring with Transvaal. Waiden says he is highly pleased with Trausvaal, which he bought here last winter. Another prominent eastern turfman, who is in town is Max Ilirseh, trainer of Papp. the winner of this years Futurity, and a dozen other good horses for Congressman George W. Loft, of New York. Hirsch is here to see jockey L. Allen, who is still at Good Samaritan Hospital. Hirsch says Papp is wintering snlendidlv and he announced that the -son of Peter Quince will be entered i:i the Kentucky Derby and will be trained for that race. He may also enter Zenith, the Ogdeh Zarah coir, which was not started as a two-year-old.
