PREPARING FOR MARYLAND RACING Horses in the Strings of John Farrcll J J Tim merman Captain Walker and Frank Farrell Paltimore Md March 20 Andrew G Blakeley and John Farrell arc the latest arrivals at Prince Georges Park Bowie with strings of horses that will take part in the spring meeting of the South ¬ ern Maryland Agricultural Association AssociationFarrell Farrell a Maryland sportsman lias a speedy sprinter ready for the colors in Firing Line also a useful threeyearold in Starwort and a band of twoyearolds The must forward of his fvoyear olds is called McLean a brown colt by Duval Etta Rose This youngster is a recruit from the stable of Thomas Clyde Farrell bought him at New Orleans from Al 5 AVeston Another promis ¬ ing youngster is Clean Gone a bay colt by Olam bala Lizzie Gilmaii McLean worked a quarter at Bowie yesterday morning in better than 25 and the watching horsemen were impressed most favorably by his smooth businesslike action The Olambala colt Clean Gone is a halfbrother of John Marrs and a neat chunk of a horse There are a half dozen other Olambala twoyearolds at Howie youngsters that were bought at Mr Wilsons first yearling sale at Saratoga last summer and they arc generally conceded to be promising promisingThe The stable of J J Tiininermai of Washington which lias been at Howie all winter is made up of twoyearolds mostly but it lias formidable performers over considerable distances of jrround in inmeirol l y PinKBal S Bi tyf TUirfTfoui fly Flittergohl has wintered famously He has never shown especial partiality for the ciippy Bowie going but just the same its is to have a couple of races there in the course of the next fortnight as part of his preparation for the Harford Philadelphia and Susquehanna Handicaps at Havre de Grace If he makes good at Havre de Grace a track on which he has always raced well he will be trained for the IMmlico String Handicap Sky Pilot seems to be right this spring He has galloped miles in 145 a couple of times in the last week or ten days daysYODELING YODELING IN FLAT RACING AGAIN AGAINThe The best known horses in the stable of Capt Philip M Walker which Fred Schelke is training for the Bowie racing are Kingly Yortelhig Felici ¬ tation and Precise all winners at one time or an ¬ other Kingly was unsound last year and the year before Captain Walker lias a notion that he will stand up this year He was turned out at Captain Walkers farm all of last year and has not taken a lame step all spring springYodeling Yodeling a fast but erratic son of Roehampton is back at flat running after a seasons tryout through the field Yodeling was too rapid a mover for steeplechasiiig but his schooling last year does not seem to have dulled his speed Felicitation and Precise winners last year are to race this year and then go to Captain Walkers farm to be bred The Virginian sportsman lias gone into thorough ¬ bred production on rather a big scale He is a nominator in the Futurity of 1920 his nominations being mares mated with Magazine aiul Hard of Avon AvonFrank Frank Farrar the develoinr of Gold Hond one of the best of last years threeyearold fencers lias returned from New Orleans and taken up New Haven and Juliet two capital fencers he turned out last fall These will be pointed for Havre de Grace and Pimlico steeplechases steeplechasesThe The horses of the Farrar string that will be ready for racing at Bowie are Laby Lou Uingdove Polroma Lord Herbert Lady London Amalgama ¬ tor and a twoyearold chestnut gelding by Harri gan Beatrice Soule Polroma is Farrars ace Polroma raced Avith some success lust year and tin year before under the silks of Jnle Carson II was not a reliable horse because of a gastric dis ¬ order which Farrar Ijilitves he lias corrected At any rate Polroma is eating voraciously and digest ¬ ing his food and he is working as satisfactorily as any horse at Bowie
