TRAINING OPERATIONS IN FULL SWING Both Churchill Downs and Douglas Park Courses Crowded with Horses Every Morning MorningLouisville Louisville Ky March 29 Training operations at both local courses are now going along in a manner that is fairly bewildering to the rail birds During the early morning hours the courses are fairly alive with the horses being given gallops gallopsThe The A K Macomber stable horses are num ¬ bered as among the more prominent to engage the work watchers attention Trainer Tom Murphy has a large band under his care and they are showing up in a manner that bespeaks much pains ¬ taking care This morning Fell Swoop and Hoi lister were sent along at threequarters the pair turning the distance in a fraction better than 120 Fruit Cake went the same distance in 119 and appears to be able to go the distance in 111 The Macomber juveniles are rattling off half miles in 52 and are ready to go the distance in 48 or bet ¬ ter when called upon uponAt At Douglas Park C C Van Meter is having good luck with his Derby eligible Happy Thought This colt was troubled with a slight ailment last December but he has fully recovered and is train ¬ ing soundly He is showing improvement with each succeeding day and ought to be ready to race during the Churchill Downs meeting Mr Van Meter lias just taken up and placed in train ¬ ing a brother to Happy Thought This is the five yearold Henicap by Ben Trovato Cappadocia which lias never faced the barrier in a race The horse went wrong as a threeyearold and had to be retired He is the biggest horse on either of the local tracks and one of the biggest ever trained in this state He is considerably over sixteen hands high and weighs over 1300 pounds Some idea of his size may be gained when it is stated that his girth strap is sx inches longer than that used on any other horse on the track
