Oscar Lewisohn. raced an effective little stable of foreign-bred horses last year, of which two. Clematis II. and Bella Desmond, were dangerous competitors in good-class company. Clematis II. was the better of the pair aud in winning the Champlain Handicap aud Merchants and Citizens Handicap at Saratoga, then following with a victory in the Municipal Handicap at Belmont Park, proved herself about the best four-year-old filly of the year. Bella Desmond was pretty good herself, as a string of four consecutive victories at Aqueduct and Empire City attested. Of the other horses in the stable Lady Edwina was the only one able to win a race. Gyp. Benevolent and Roderic proving failures. The latter is a richly -bred young horse which brought a big price as a yearling in England. In all the record of the stable was: Home. Col. and Sex. A. Pedigree. 1st. 2d. 3d. Won.
