G. W. WINGFIELD HORSES SENT EAST Consignment of Nevada Stock Farm Shipped to Havre de Grace — Honolulu Racing Notes. Reno. Nev April 5.— George W. Wingfield shipiM-d fi..ni here a few days ago a number of his horses that he intends to race in the east. The shipment left here for Havre de Grace. Md.. in charge of George W. Berry, superintendent of the Nevada Stack Farm and included the three-year-olds Tomlwlo. Star Shooter. Slippery Elm, Set Square and several two-year-olds. As a result of a cable received from Honolulu yesterday, stating that there will lie no racing there until September, it is probable that the plans of George Wingfield to shin a consignment of horses to the Hawaiian Islands will be, for the time at least, abandoned. It was planned to have M. P. Guilli.iins take the horses to Honolulu. June ]i, anniversary of the birth of Kamenhamehn the Great, has for the past half-century leen the great r.i.-ing date in the islands, and this years discontinuance is one of the few on record. By shipping the horses to Honolulu early next month thev would have a chance to be trained for the summer meeting after having completed their three weeks in quarantine, one of which would be passed on the steamer. ■Yktgfiekl, a few months ago. shipped a number of ■■rats to Honolulu in charge of George W. Berry. superintendent of the Nevada Stock Farm, all of which were sold to Mrs. Walter Macfarlanc. the leading sportswoman of the islands. The shipment included the stallion Deutschlaiid. An interesting event is exnected to occur any day at the v.-vuda Stock Farm." the English mare Ber-nina. dam of Tomliolo. being due to foal to the great English sire Polymelia, sire of Honeywood. So great are the chances of wonderful produce from the union that it is doubtful if • •"«. 000 would today be taken for the unborn colt.
