CONDENSED RECORD OF THE RUNNING OF THE KENTUCKY DERBY FOR FORTY-THREE YEARS. Once again the Kentucky Derby has reached its annual point of decision. Its record is one replete with noble striving by great race horses and fraught with pleasing reminiscences. There are many still in the land who witnessed Aristides carrying off its honors in 1875 and some who have attended its running in every year of its history. Those who were at Churchill Downs last year saw an English colt win it for the first time, as did those present in 1915 view a filly gather its plaudits, when the peerless Regret led Pebbles home, its first winner of the softer sex. Such of its winners as Fonso, Hindoo, Leon at us, Montrose, Riley, Halm a, Ben Brush, Plaudit and Sir Huon, added to their laurels gathered in racing, by becoming notably successful sires, when their careers on the track were ended.
