IX THE SIX cut across to the inside at the start and drew away in the first eighth, but his rider tosi hi* whip in the stretch run and had to resort to strong hand riding to save the race. MILDA ran [ well and finished gamely, but tiring. MARIE CONNELL gained steadily and finished fast. PINARD was crowded against the fence when running fast. OLD BILL BENDER ran well. CAVAN BOY tired after heading POACHER and taking the lead. The latter set a fast iiace, but quit after going a half mile in the lead. JULE raced gamely. PEERLESS ONE was awav badly and closed a great gap. BEN GOW ran well.
