. — w MY FRIEND COST H. A. PORTER 2,800 The grand appearing two year old filly My Friend. by Disguisi —Playmate, which won the Rosedale Stak s at Jamaica Tuesday, in the colors of Ilenry A. Porter of Tulsa. Oklahoma, the initial turf success of that wealthy recruit to racing, was purchased at the diMM-rsal sale of the Wickliffe Stud at Lexington on January 15 last and brought the third highest price of the sale, S12.N00. Then-was much spirited bidding when My Friend was offered, a number of turfmen eagerly desiring to secur" the daughter of Disguise, more because of her future stud possibilities, than as a racing prospect. As Mr. Porters plans on entering the sport was to establish a stud farm as well as a racing stable, he was as anxious as anyone to secure the promising youngster and instructed Harry Morrissey to get her at any cost, with the result that the filly was knocked down to him at the above men tioned figures. My Friends racy of Tuesday seems to indicate that she will prove to be worth the high sum paid for her, not only as a desired acquisition as a broodmare in the future, but alandv as it racer of the first magnitude.
