Roamers time, 1:36%, was one-fifth of a seeond slower than the record for the race, made by Short Crass two years ago. It was a remarkable exhibition on the part of Andrew Millers wonderful racer and, when it was evident that the little gelding would win easily, the big crowd, one of the largest of the yi-ar. arose to its feet and cheered long and lustily for everybodys favorite, without doubt, one of the most popular thoroughbreds that ever raced in this or any other country. The race needs little description, as Roamer took early command and never relinquished the paatthm, winning by two lengths fp m the steady going Tom McTaggart. with Hand Crenade, from the Macomher stable, beating the ethers for third place. At no time could Borrow keep up with the fast pace and was badly beaten in the run home, tiring so badly that Hand Orenade outg.iniotl him at the end. Tromi e La Mort and Priscilla Mullens flashed into contending ]iositions in the early part of the race, but failed to rescind later on.
