WINGFIELDS PROMISING YEARLINGS Seventeen Are by English Stallion Honeywood Son of the Famous Hacer and Sire Polymelus By 1 It Jeffery JefferySaratoga Saratoga X Y August 12 Early Wright who has been racing a small stable of horses on the Xew York tracks this year for George W Wing field Nevada mining magnate is planning to re ¬ turn to the ranch of his employer in Nevada at the close of the Saratoga meeting to devote his attention to the breaking and education of the big band of yearlings from which the juvenile division of the Wingfield stable will be recruited for next years racing Preparatory to making the return trip to the coast trainer Wright is making an effort to dispose of as many of the horses he brought cast as possible lie has already sold the useful nicer Slippery Elm to John W Consi diiie and the horse has been taken over by It A Smith to be trained for his new owner ownerWright Wright says that the Wiugfield yearlings are a highly promising band far better than any pre viously bred by the Nevada capitalist When Mr VyiiVSf ield established his thoroughbred nursery in Xevada some years ago it was with some rather ordinary mares picked up here and there in the western country us the nucleus He has gradually been weeding out the poorer breeding stock and replacing it witli highclass broodmares including many choice sueciuiens of English origin imported from across the Atlantic within tlie past two or thre years The result is that today the Wing field establishment is equipped to produce thor ¬ oughbreds of the highest type typeTlie Tlie Wingfield yearlings number some twentyfive of which seventeen are by the English stallion Honeywood a son of the noted Polymelus whoso blood is so highly prized This is the first cron of the Honeywoods and experts on breeding look for them to make good at racing They are described by trainer Wright as exceptionally good looking youngsters and lie will be keenly disappointed if they fail to live up to his expectations of them in view of their appearance as yearlings Besides the Honeywood yearlings there are six by Deutscliland and two Englishbred colts that came over as suck ¬ lings when their dams were imported by Mr Wing field last year yearTrainer Trainer Wright exacts to invade the east next spring with a stable which will be able to hold its own with the important eastern establishmtnts in the juvejilo events Engagements will be made on a liberal scale for the coming twoyearolds of the Wingfield establishment in all of the important juvenile events of the season
