LATEST TURF GOSSIP FROM SARATOGA By Ed Cole Saratoga N Y August 11 II McCarter Potter who lias bred more than one good race horse in ¬ cluding McCarter and Worth arrived today to sec his horse Blairgowrie run but met with disappoint ¬ ment owing to the storm which proceeded the races Andy Blakcly was willing to start the horse said Mr Potter out he did not think it wise as 1 lie is not a mud runner and the effort might injure him I think he is a fair sort of horse one that will go on witli age consequently I want to give him every chance as he might develop into a good threeyearold In fact I think well enough of him to keep him in all his threeyearold engage ¬ ments mentsCommander Commander J K L Uoss has purchased the con ¬ tract on jockey Sande from Messrs Kane and Johnson It was in operation for about two years and a half Lyke was the rider for the Uoss stable until a few days ago when he was released and signed by George Smith owner of the Brighton Stable Mr Bedwell the trainer of the horses in the Commander Uoss stable is enthusiastic over the engagement of Sande who he believes is one of the most competent riders in the profession I am going into the business again having been idle long enough said Barney Schreiber today I have eight two and threeyearolds in training at Lexington which will be ready for New Orleans or Havana They are all by Jack Atkin and Ban uockburn
