Saratoga X Y August 14 Billy Kelly the crack youngster recently bought by Commander J K L Boss from W F Poison for 27500 dis ¬ pelled any vestige of doubt that might have ex ¬ isted as to his superiority over the twoyearolds in these parts by recording a decisive victory over his formidable opposition in the Sanford Memorial which netted him 392 He was con ¬ ceding chunks of weight to the others having up 130 pounds but he carried his imjiost without the semblance of any great effort and after in ¬ dulging Lion dOr an eleventh hour addition to Hit race witli the lead for the first half mile moved into command to win with the utmost ease and drawing away steadily as the race progressed Lion dOr held gamely to his task and was an easy sec ¬ ond with Colonel Livingston making his initial start in these parts a good third thirdBilly Billy Kelly proved himself thoroughly at home in the going which was of the slippery mud variety At the outset lie seemed in difficulty for he was away from the barrier with a stumbling action but when fully settled in his stride he gained rapid ¬ ly and steadily Saude however was not altogether satisfied witli his behavior for lie resorted to
