NO THOUGHT OF ABANDONING JUAREZ Matt Winn Says Winter Racing Will Be Resumed There as Soon as Conditions Become Normal New York October 5 Horsemen and racing folk are beginning to think about winter racing and some are making preparations to move either to New Orleans or Havana where the sport will l e resumed the latter part of November They will be the only two points for winter racing this year but next year If all goes well in Europe there is every reason to believe Juarez will be again in operation operationSpeaking Speaking on the resumption at Juarez Manager M J Winn said that not only had the Mexican track been kept in order but could be put in trim for racing on short notice We have never even thought of abandoning the Juarez course said Mr Winn and will open it up again as soon as opportunity presents Itself ItselfThe The national conditions between this country and Mexico put us to many inconveniences in the past but as soon as things are more settled you can rest assured racing will be resumed Jit Juarez The passport trouble was so discouraging three winters ago that it became imperative to close up but we are hoping for a great change in affairs between Mexico and this country and when that comes there will be no question about resuming operations which I hope will be during the winter winterHorsemen Horsemen and racegoers are awaiting a definite announcement from H D Brown regarding trans portation and other details in connection with the Havana meeting Mr Brown has been to Wash ¬ ington recently arranging affairs and will no doubt make a statement In the near future futureJames James Milton Mr Browns assistant manager says that to the best of his knowledge things will be about the same as last year in every respect un ¬ less the waf should cease abruptly in which case they would change for the better There are quite MiltonI number of horses there now said Mr Milton i I dont know just the number but many horse ¬ men are only awaiting to hear the final word from Mr Brown to pack up and ship Every meeting in Cuba has improved since the first The people down there like the sport and patronize it Each year the attendance increases and the prospects for the brightThere future are exceedingly bright There was a feeling of relief when the announce ¬ ment was recently published there would be no friction m New Orleans this coming winter Horse ¬ men are not particularly fond of race track Avars and disturbances The nonfriction announcement therefore has done much to settle the question where many of them will locate next winter
