NEW ZEALANDERS ARE AT SEA During the last forty years New Zealand horses have had about ninety wins in important Australian races Two important events decided annually in Australia have however completely baffled the New Zealand division so far viz the Grand Na ¬ tional Hurdles and Steeplechase of the Victoria Racing Club The nearest approach to these was when Donald was runnerup to Ellerslie in the hurdles in 1890 In the same year bis stable companion Titokowaru beat all his opponents except Fearless H in the steeplechase Tim Doolan and Flash Jack also made a good bid a few years ago
