TIGHTENING UP AT LATONIA Trainers Take Advantage of Im ¬ proved Conditions of Track Officials Arriving for Meeting Jockey Lunsford to Join Jointhe the Riding Colony Cincinnati O November 11 Trainers at La ¬ tonia took full advantage of the fine weather and fast track conditions prevailing Monday morning to tighten up their charges for the approaching meeting and accordingly the workwatchers were treated to some of the snappiest work in over a week The dogs were still up due to track superintendent Noltes desire to save the inner porSion of the course from being cut up Thin naturally forced the horses to travel an increased distance and made their workouts appear much slower than they actually were wereIt It was announced today that Harry Lunsford the crack rider attachejl to the stable of Edward Bealu McLean would be here to ride at the meeting Starter Dade arrived from Ins home in Hendqr son Ky and Judge C F Price is due to arrive Tuesday morning Patrol Judge W M Phillips in a recent arrival Assistant starter Jim Osborn at present employed at Pimlico will rejoin starter Dade Tuesday According to the program book for the first sis days of the coming meeting the oyernijflit purses have been reduced somewhat due to the fact that the meeting will have to be considerably curtailed and also because of the fact that the association in its determination to run the meeting is doing so at a time when unfavorable weather conditions are most likely to prevail Before making the cut Manager Hachmeister secured permission from the State Racing Commission after lies had explained the situation in full to the turf governing body Even at that the purse values are high there be ¬ ing one race each day of 1000 one of 900 three of 800 and the remainder 700 the latter being the minimum purse value On the opening day the purse offerings including the 3000 added to the Latonia Inaugural will total 7800 On the second day without any stak6 offerings the total distribution will amount to 5COO the same amount being given away on the third day Saturday when the Fort Thomas and Sinton Hotel handicaps are to be run the aggregate amount will be 8800
