THREE WINS FOR ROBINSON Popular Jockey Wins Half of Jefferson Park Program Backers of Favorites Retrieve RetrieveSome Some of Their Losses Track TrackShowing Showing Improvement XEW ORLEANS la December Ifi Jockey Frank Robinson rode three of the six winners at Jefferson Park today and provided the onlr outstanding fea ¬ ture of the afternoons sport He began the day auspiciously by landing Earlymorn a winner in the opening race and followed this by a victory on Old Man Grit in the second His third winning mount was on Pilsen in the fifth Robinson lias always been a popular rider here and has a big following There is more than usual interest dis ¬ played in his saddle work here at present because Uobiuson has a royal chance to displace Lylo from the leadership of the American jockeys for the year With the conclusion of todays racing Robinson is now only five winning mounts behind Lyke and as he has ten more days to overtake his rival hi chances appear roseate to say the least especially with Lyke on the ground that rider having decided to take a vacation until after the first of the year when he will resume riding at the Fair Grounds The Jefferson track continues to show improve ¬ ment but even with a continuance of the fine weather now prevailing it will take several days more before the owners of the better grade horses will postBackers care to risk sending them to the post Backers of favorites fared well today a majority of their choices scoring The first upset came ii the fourth when Duke of Shelby and Roederer fin ¬ ished ahead of Semper Stalwart and Margery Little Cottages defeat in the closing race was another surprise tint winner turning up in Cadillac which came back today and repeated his success of last Thursday ThursdayW W Walker is another who is racing only a feu horses here this winter seven selling platers com ¬ prising his stable AValker never was much in recent years for anything but horses which could run often in claiming and selling races but he has always had a much larger stable than he owns now He is meeting with success even with Ins small string as his horses all favor the tough going such as lias prevailed here from the opening of the meeting meetingLadies Ladies badges will be issued only to the wives of owners and trainers and any misrepresentation in aj ilying for badges or abuse of the privilege after such are issued will be severely dealt with withPractically Practically all of the stables with coming two yearolds in them nre quartered at the Fair Grounds and their trainers have lost little time in their preparation for the races for twoyearolds which will begin the first of the new year
