17 Todays rac ¬ ing was but little improvement over that of recent days the difficult track still serving as a drawback but it vas hardening gradually as the afternoon progressed and if Jio more mill falls will be in fairty go l condition soon At present the course presents a variety of footing good in sjmts and mushy and deep at intervals At the starting points on the liackstretch those horses with an outside po ¬ sition hare by far the worst of it as they are forcsd to begin in the deep going while those racers with an inner position have firm footing This enables Ihc horses with an inner post position to sprint intr good leads and it was a big factor in Iinehursts success in the second race also in ilarasmiis victory in the fifth fifthBalmy Balmy weather again ruled and a surprisingly lrge attendance considering the lack of features witnessed the sport The increase in the attend ¬ ance daily has been remarkable and will cause a big financial success of the meeting Jockey
