GALLINULES WONDERFUL CAREER In his service career of twenty-four seasons Gallinules sons and daughters won ,594,811. He fathered 3S8 winners of C03 races. Says Horse and Hound: Gallinules most famous offspring was Pretty Polly, which probably ought never to have been beaten, and won twenty-two out of the twenty-four races she contested, worth collectively 37,297, her victories including the One Thousand Guineas," Oaks, St. Leger, Champagne Stakes, Middle Park Plate and two Coronation Cups. His next greatest winner. White Eagle, secured twelve races, worth 9,110; and then comes Slieve Gallion, winner of the Two Thousand Guineas and five other races, totaling 9,775, and sold by Captain Greer in September of the same year to the Kisber Stud for 70,000. The only others of his offspring to earn five figures are Hammerkon, 53,905, and Phaleron, S51.S80, but other good nerformers begotten by him mav be mentioned in Wildfowler winner of the St. Leger in 1S9S, and sire of Llangibby, which ought also to have won the same event. Peace, Lesterlin, Portmarnock, Rockctter, Santry, Sirenia. etc. In the year before he died Gallinule had no fewer than eleven two-year-old winners, a remarkable thing for a horse then twenty-seven years old.
