v SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTED RECORD OF THE E. R. BRADLEY STABLE LAST YEAR AFTER STARTING OFF IN BRILLIANT FASHION 4, In all, thirty-two horses raced under the colors of the western turfman Edward R. Bradley last year. Eight of them did. not win a cent. Others amply made up for this deficiency. Through the Kentucky spring and early summer campaign the stable was highly successful, its run of good luck culminating in Batter Cakes triumph in the rich Cincinnati Trophy. Every prospect seemed so rosy then that a great year for the owner of Idle Hour Farm was predicted. But all at once a spell of evil fortune suddenly intervened and for the remainder of the racing year the bad luck of the stable was as pronounced as its previous measure of success had been. The stars of the stable were taken to Saratoga in high hopes, but all seemed to lose form and not a single race was won there by the Bradley horses. A few races were picked up in the Kentucky fall meetings, but nothing like the number won in the spring racing, the net result being that the stable winnings were only ,141 more than they were in 1917.
