OUR WINNING YOUNGSTERS Two-Year-Olds Which Have Done Well in Winter Racing. Red Red Rose the Leading Money Winner Wrack Makes a Good Beginning as a Sire. Generally speaking, no great things in a racing way aiv expected later on from two-year-olds which make their first start at the winter tracks. Stables in which real stars of the future are supposed to abide hold them back until the worth-while stake races for horses of their age arrive. It is true that. Old Rosebud and Hawthorn first displayed lheir splendid speed in winter racing at the Juarez track, but such cases only furnish the exception to the general rule that the early birds of two-year-old racing are usually of inferior class. Still, they furnish pleasing racing, and even if few have subsequently achieved greatness, many have gone on anil made useful racers, profitable to their owners. It is not possible now to say what the future development of the young things which have raced over short distances at New Orleans and Havana is destined to be. but some of them have shown the first requisite of a race horse high speed and to all appearances Miss Jemima, Red Red Rose. Blue Wrack. Dr. Hall. Minute Man, Atta Boy, Tiielrau K.. Airnat. Azurit.i and Runnan are the pick of those which have appeared in public. So far forty-three, representing a great diversity of breeding, have won races, with Red Red Rose the leader in money won. An interesting thing to his owner, Arthur IS. Hancock, is the immediate success of his new sire, Wrack, in having two winners at Havana from his first crop of two-year-olds. Below will In found the names of the winning two-year-olds of ;iB19vnrranged" under their sires and with their damn named following their own, together with other interesting particulars: Runnymede, ch. h. 1908, by Voter Running Stream.
