GIVEN UP TO POOR RACERS ... Jefferson Park Card Arranged to Give Unlucky Horses a Chance. r Bon Tromp Beaten by Kildare Boy in the Main Race Only One Favorite Wins. NEW ORLEANS, La., March 10. Todays racing program was made up with a view to enabling the poorer grade of horses an opportunity for purse money. Six of the number were claiming races, with minimum value clauses.. The public was again far wrong in its calculations and, with the exception of Counterbalance in the initial race, all the other favorites v.-ere downed. The biggest upset came with the defeat of Bon Tromp in the feature race. He was outpaced from the start by Kildare Boy. The latter showed tiie most speed from the outset and held Bon Tromp safe for the entire race. Uranium, carrying David Gideons silks of dark blue, made famous by Requital, His Highness and other cracks, and seen on a Xew Orleans track for the first time, was a big favorite in the second race, but he ran disappointingly and failed to" get a part of the purse, Tan II.. Speedster and Padua fighting it out in game style and landing in the above order noses apart. Uranium was claimed by Tansor and Cline for ,000. Houdini, which in several previous starts showed no form, jarred the backers" when he awoke and landed the third race from Passing Fancy and Bronco Billy. Houdini, at one stage of the race, was a distant follower and closed an immense gnp in the last quarter. Bill Hunley and Frank Monroe fought it out in .game .stylaia. the. fifth-niireandTroxlerssuprior -ride on Frank Monroe prevailed and that" racer, Avon by a small margin. Ballad, a. first-time starter here, made a show of the others in the sixtli race and won easily from Dolina. The favorite, Cadillac, ran a poor race indeed. Green Grass was the winner of the next race from Sleeth, with Broom Peddler third. Broom Peddler was also a sufferer from interference, the fouling being done by Sleeth in the stretch. Had Preecc claimed foul the judges in all probability would have disqualified Sleeth. The announcement was made today that in future the rule applying to ruled off persons would be rigidly enforced, even to their arrest for trespassing, who have Visited the course during the early morning hours. The second special train with horses for Hot Springs will depart tomorrow afternoon. There will probably be eight cars leave. The horses of James Arthur will be shipped from here to Maryland at the close of the racing. There was a big list of departures for Hot Springs today, and more will follow tomorrow. Julius Reedef, who has been assisting secretary Joseph McLennan, left today for Oakhiwn Park, where he will be employed in a clerical capacity. W. R. Norvell, clerk of the scales at Jefferson Park, will depart for Oaklawn Park Wednesday night. Progressive pulled up lame this morning and was excused from the seventh race. W. C. AAeant and W. Cahill are among the owners who will ship their strings to Hot Springs Tuesday. W. H. Fizer and Will Woodward lyill send their stables to the same place Wednesday. J. J. Troxler will ship his horses to Hot Springs Tuesday morning. All of the W. F. Knebelkamp horses, with the exception of Sophia K will be shipped in a few days to Louisville in charge of Ed. Knebelkamp.
