LEXINGTON STAKE ENTRIES LARGE Big Increase in Nominations Over that of East Year Great Season Predicted. LEXINGTON. Ky., March 10. The Kentucky Association, according to the count made today by secretary G. D. Wilson, received a total of 31", entries to the six stakes for the spring meeting here. This is an average of fifty-two and one-half per race. Last year the total was 214 entries to five stakes, an average of forty-three. The increase this year, as compared with last year, are in the Ashland Oaks, eleven; Camden Handicap, four; Ben AH Handicap, four; Idle Hour Stakes, seventeen, and Hiuata Stakes, twenty-one. The Blue- Grass Stakes, for three-year-olds, which is in the nature of a preliminary to the Kentucky Derby, was revived this year with forty-four entries, its lust previous running having been in 1914, when Bronzewing won. defeating John Guild, winner of the L-itonia Derby of that year. General manager Robert L. Baker, after carefully looking over the stake entries, commented as follows: "Boys, we surely are going to have some great horse racing in Kentucky this year. These stakes have filled fine and the same will be the case at Louisville and Latonia. This entry list is an evidence of the response a racing association will get when It hangs up good money for horses to run for. The policy of the Kentucky Jockey Club, as I understand it, is to be for liberal stakes and purses at every meeting, and that will mean n higher order of racing. Kentucky, under the new organization, is ImhiihI to be in her place at the top of racing in America."
