FISHING AND HUNTING NOTES April 10 is about the time striped bass bite in the Hudson River, says an expert angler of New York State. J Schwartz, of Avalon, Cal.. won the light tackle button of the Tuna Club for taking an albacore of thirty-one and one-half pounds. Sportsmen of Wisconsin are urging the legislature to make a twelve months open season on skunks because of that animals destruction of game. Long Key. Fla., is experiencing the best sail fishing in many years, the daily average catch being eight, although one day recently nineteen were brought in. It has been proposed that Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and Canada protect the lake sturgeon for a three years period. New York, and Canada already have protective legislation on the subject. A. J. Elliott, hunting in the open season at Guy Drakes, four miles from Whitman, Neb., was followed to his boat by a common yellow house cat. He let the cat get into the boat and when he shot and killed a duck the cat jumped into the water and brought the duck to his boat.
