PORT LIGHT IN DISGRACE Quits When He Had His Race at Oaklawn Won Dick Williams Defeats Thinker Thelma E Makes a New NewTrack Track Record HOT SPRINGS Ark March 20 Todays card again lacked a pronounced feature due to failure on the part of the owners to enter in the better races resulting in tle necessity of substituting cheaper grade affairs The even class of those that did start made it possible for good sport several of the finishes being extra close closeTort Tort Light which lias been a grievous disapoint ment the entire winter culminated Andy Blakeleys troubles this afternoon when he succumbed in tins last stride to Iwin after seemingly having tho race at his mercy This race carried with it the out ¬ standing incident of tho afternoon and was Port Lights sudden quitting Some were inclined to blame Sclmttinger for tin horses defeat on account of his overconfidence but It is unlikely that ho would have been as close as he was at the finish had the rider not saved him in the early running and when Port Light quit he quit all overr P AP Hondo represented in the race by Bayside which finished fur back claimed Port Light for 1300 1300Dick Dick Williams showed a good performance ill tho fifth race which he won from Thinker and Baby Lynch It was Thinkers first start in a long time and with another race in her she would probably have reversed the decision with the winner winnerThelma Thelma E running in the colors of B A Jones added another purse to the account of that owner making three victories that he has scored at this meeting with his twoyearolds Tiielma E ran a fine race in leading her opponents from the start and lowered the track record of 48 held jointly by Fountainblue and Aunt Kose to 47 Blue Jeans landed in second place and Rainbow Division third Liberty Star won from the bad band that started in the second race n which Rookery was the favorite favoriteM M Bert Thurman just managed tn last long enough to outstay Choir Master and Liberator in the third race and the final dash fell to Flash of Steel about which the baeliers took an extremely short price but she made good with Lukemac and Sunflash following in her wiike wiikeTodays Todays attendance was again of generous size and operatedOwners the limit number of layers again operated Owners have been warned against employing jockey AVilliam Kelcer who left the employ of T P Hayes without the latters consent consentThe The Wanderer was given a mile gallop this morn ¬ ing and turned a mile in 146 Under Fire and Sailor other Derby candidates worked respectively in 130 and 49 Under Fire went seveneighths and Sailor a half mile W B Bernhardt arrived this morning in ad ¬ vance of his horses which are en route here in charge of trainer Tom Scott While awaiting to be unloaded a car of hordes were jammed into by a caboose and Dahinda Leah Oochran and Frances Star were considerably shaken up and Injured InjuredA A B Dade took up his duties this afternoon and sent the fields away in his usual efficient fashion fashionMidway Midway and Bulse owned by 1 W Piirrish wero shipped to Kentucky where they will be prepared for their spring campaign Blue Jeans was bought after her race this after ¬ noon by A L Kirby KirbyLaggard Laggard in T C Fcrriss string died this morn ¬ ing of pneumonia
